Well how is your new cow working out? Did she have her calf? Hope your having time to tend to her with your new job.

No calf yet. She's had milk for two weeks. Is inside and ready to go whenever.
Yes, I have my priorities right regarding work/job/important stuff.
Haven't had the team out in almost two weeks. Windy, cold and just plain awful. Have enough wood in the yard so no need haul any closer. Seems the weather slows me up more every winter.
The other day I had plans to 'touch up' the trails with the team as the Pelican Preschool is coming out next Tuesday for the annual sleighride. The wind was about 35mph from the north. I did chores and then sat by the parlor stove, watched t.v. and read.
Then drove up to get the mail and into town for some possibles and coffee/news at the feed mill.

Could see Wednesday a.m. that she was getting ready to calf. Had second son check her in the evening as I had to work. She was just starting to push about 9 p.m.
Got home at 1 a.m. and found a couple hind feet sticking out. Used come a long and pulled. No luck. Did get the calf out in the a.m. Dead.
Will try to find an orphan to adopt.
Lord, that was a big calf.

Cow seems fine. Lord, she is big!! Calf has to be way over 130#.
On my way to a neighbor's tonight to get an orphan calf. Will probably look for at least one maybe two more. Hope to still have enough for the house.
Bought cream at the store for my cereal last week. Just not the same.

Calf is doing fine. Must restrain cow as she isn't all that thrilled with the new calf. Milking her out once a day and feeding the hens the extra first milk.
