The NYS Farm show is coming up and I was doing my home work before I go. Been looking at aerators and saw where Genesis and I&J have come together and made a horsedrawn machine. Anyone see one up close, use one, or know how many horses? I was also wondering about the ability of breaking up ground at horse speed. I'm heading for I&J and White Horse in April. I'll definitely be doing some looking into this machine.

I was thinking of trying to get to the Farm Show on Thursday, Tiff, coming back from a trip up to Franklin County I go to on Wednesday. I haven't seen the aerator, but I was with my Ft Plain friend on his farm the other day and saw a bunch of stuff on different farms I didn't know I&J was even making .. so I'm looking forward to the show. Maybe see you there.

Hey, you're down there in the Marcellus Shale Belt .. you'd better go to the seminar Cornell is putting on at the show about how to stop milking cows and get rich and live off Natural Gas royalties from the hydrofracturing.

That's getting to be a really big deal/fiasco all of a sudden. So much so Cornell is putting on a seminar at the Farm Show. Wow.

Had four wells on the farm in Ohio. I will admit it was enough to pay the taxes, but definitely would not put a child threw college. Actually I have no desire to sign a cntract. In Ohio I seeded about forty acres the first year I was there. Only one 15 acre field came because of all the rain that year. That winter the gas company dug from corner to corner in that field to lay a new line. Needless to say I wasn't happy. So much so the State tropper came out.
The neighbor here had new lines put in and his grandchildren will be picking shale. It's an absolute mess.
I&J I don't think will be at the show but Genesis should be. We should meet for lunch.
I hope to make it to Pa. April 16 & 17 if you or anyone in the area needs something. I have a 20ft. flatbed and plan to bring back two row cultivator, a few garden cultivators for the neighbors and an aerator.
Are you keeping Eli busy this winter????? Does anyone know if Phinney's Knightime is standing for the spring? Last I knew a lady in Williamstown owned him.

I had a big fight with a pipeline company these past few years too. I'm not a fan of the way the energy people think they can just run all over everyone, always angling to not pay for the damage they are doing.

That's a great offer, if you have space on the trailer. I will definitely keep that in mind, myself. It would be good to get together for lunch, let's do it.

The youngster Eli is doing great, keeping in shape feeding cattle, skidding firewood logs, spreading manure. He continues to be a pleasure to work, works in any spot at any time with any horse. We've been riding him too. He's grown and filled out well, still more to go.

I haven't heard much about Phinney's Knightime any more than you know. I did bring in a Pleasant View King son here, on the theory that just about everyone else has one, so I should too. :-)

I'm not sure were I'll be or when at the show. The best I can tell you is this, if you see a fellow with a Lancaster straw hat it's probably me. I can say that at the farm show but probably not at a horse sale ;o)

Heh .. OK then, it should be easier on us to run across one another, because I'll be wearing the same kind of hat, but with English clothes. :-)

Is this like a rotary hoe thing? Horses can't pull it fast enough? If it isn't aeroway (I think) seems to make the gold standard areator.
I do not know the recommended ground speed on it & they are not cheap.

This one I'm looking at is a Genesis. They are very simular to Aeroway. I'll be getting one in April or at least that's the plan. Look for a later post as to how well it works. I&J takes the gangs and mounts it on a cart that can be used with horses having a battery powered hydraulic system to transport the machine. They are between $4-5000. Cheaper than a 7 foot Esch no-til drill which runs around $18,500. I found a fellow not far from here that will rent his to me. He said 4 horses unless you have the cutter disc in about 3-4 inches. Then it would be better to have six on it. The thing weighs 2.25 tons. It's one nice machine!!! It was new last year and he has about 75 acres on the clock. It has the foam drop markers and all. Talk about modern farming with horses I'm milking cows as a sole income and getting it done with horses. It's been a long time since I've been this happy.
