Is this a good deal?

I am looking at a bio harness to buy for $450. It has been used for 1 year. It includes the harness, collar, and a bridle. It does not include lines. It was bought for a 13 1/2 hand halflinger (pretty drafty built). The collar will fit my horse but my I'm not sure about the harness. I know my horse is taller and longer. They said this harness was $650 new one year ago.
It has a 22 inch collar and hames. I have a 14 1/2 hand quarterhorse weighing about 1000 lbs. that I need a harness for. I have never bought a harness before. Is this a good deal? Do you think it will fit my quarterhorse? (I tried to post a picture, but I do not want to pay to put one picture on the web).

The harness might fit. Each animal is one by itself when it comes to collars, I'd venture to say you 1/4 will take a more narrow collar. By the time you buy good lines and a collar that fits, you are going to be in the $650 range.Might as well measure your 1/4 and have one made for it, unless you have some harness dealers around that will swap collars

It's not totally unreasonable but; it is in line with the cost of a new single harness and collar.

seems high for one harness
and 650 is out of this world!

The price is about what I'd expect to pay for a new harness, and then you'll have to get a new collar that fits your horse since it's not likely that one will. Depending on how much difference in size there is between the collars the hames may not fit the new collar. It seems like you'd be better off just measuring your horse and ordering a new harness and collar that fits.

Try it on your horse first and if it fits good , offer them 350.00 . You can always swop your collar in on one that will fit . Check for broke or torn places . Hard to sell something now .
