Did any one else know any thing about stud horse Named "pat Murphy" all I know is he was bought from Texas A&M college around 1934 by walter Gibbon of Comstock NE. Pat Murphy was out of a molly Mule, pat was left stud sired a bunch of colts. Most were cowboy horses, Alot of single footers in the horses would like to find a horse back to pat murphy.

I remember reading about Pat Murphy in a Western Horseman article several (20+) years ago. Don't recall much except that he was out of a molly mule.

I thought that all mules were sterile and could not be bred. Is this not true?

NO, The chance of breeding is very very low but not impossible.

It does happen now and then that a mare mule will have a foal, though not often. If I understand it right, the mare may look like a mule but she is really a horse as far a chromosomes go. So when bred to a stud she would have a horse colt. There have also been cases were a mare mule could have a donkey foal when bred to a jack. This is the same case only the chromosome number is that of a donkey rather than a mule.
