How much better can it get??

Went spearing with granddaughter this morning. Has been poor fishing but had one Northern come in and I missed. Gave the spear to granddaughter-told her 'you can't do any worse than me'. We visited, ate chips, chicken and hot chocolate.
Took Dennis S's team out after dinner. They are doing very well. Gave some kids a sleigh ride.
New cow is about ready to calf. Hens are laying quite well. Hogs are doing well. Start the new job tomorrow. Got my retirement statement in the mail yesterday. Doing well-thanks Obama.
Have enough wood and feed to get me through the rest of winter unless it is really awful.
My oldest aunt died this weekend, but that wasn't a bad thing for her. Only have two aunts left of a very large family. All the rest of older generation are gone.
Am I one lucky old goat or what?

You were doing alright till you started doling out credit.
Best be thanking the Good Lord, not the Messiah.
What goes around, comes around. I think you're creating some good karma and it's keeping you in good straights, but don't ruin it with crazy notions!

That's for sure on the crazy notions!!!

My CD collection of FDR speechs should arrive today or tomorrow.
Will be able to come up with lots of quotes in the near future.
Response by Dale Wagner at 2010-02-01 19:08:50
A lot of modern politicians are getting their speeches from Marx or Mein Kamp.
Response by Robin at 2010-02-01 19:20:09
Good Lord, maybe the speeches will get lost in the mail. Anyway, keep up the good work and more important, keep the porch folks laughing.
Stay worm!
Response by M. Burley at 2010-02-01 20:43:49
Thanks for the update, can't wait for the quotes.

Your truly one of a kind. I always learn something from your posts. I can't wait for your quotes.

Just whats needed here, political speeches. I doubt the right side will be heard if that starts.

Mr. Waller, it certainly sounds like life is very good for you!
Have you ever found yourself, at various times and places, saying "it just doesn't get any better than this" only to find yourself say that a week later? A day later? I know I do.
Enjoy.

Can't figure out what in the he** you're thanking Obama for, but whatever. You must have been one of the folks voting him the Nobel prize before he was even in office.
Sounds like you spent some quality time with the grand daughter. Good for you.

Kate-had another couple moments like this tonight. Was at work at the new unit I'm on and a CNA was talking about going to the health food store and getting eggs that "the egg guy" brings in most every week.
Should have pressed her a bit about the information she had about this "egg guy". She says she and her family like the eggs. But wonder about what they think or have been told about this "egg guy".
Night staff arrived and one of my regular beef and pork customers was working and ordered a 1/4 of beef as soon as I have one available.

When you get to no american boy will ever set foot overseas, let me know. My father after spending almost3.5 years in the military always mocked that statement. Other than that I personaly think it would be a waste of time. Remember FDR the president also mocked or belittled the supreme court. Dang sounds like a recent speach doesn't it?
If you want to argue politics, Trumans the buck stops here; or jfks ask not what your country can do for you, but what can you do for your country would be the best democrats have ever stated. My opion, we may have to set on the oppisit sides of the areana at Valley City I guess.

Mr. Waller, don't you just love a 'day at work' (or night in your case?) that goes like that?
I had a "life is good" moment today at work. The little truck I drive at that farm got stuck going up a steep icey/snowy hill. So while I sat there in the truck waiting for one of the guys to help me, I couldn't help but think how great it was. Me and one of my dogs, sitting in a grove of very tall long-needle pines full of snow, so peacefully quiet, while thousands of tiny snowflakes drifted down from the pine trees all sparkling in the sunlight. It was fabulous! When I told the boss about this later he just gave me a goofy look and shook his head like I was nuts.....maybe I am.
Life is good.

Don-I'll sit with you at Valley City. Just don't let's throw road apples.
My dad spent 1939-45 in the army. D-Day, Battle of the Bulge, etc. Often said he wished he could vote for FDR over and over.
Also said it was 'darn thoughtful of Hitler to kill himself in April so I could be home for duck hunting in November'.
Did you know that lots of those teams at Valley City are sedated for the hitch show?
Bye the bye-Humphrey, Truman and LBJ were my dad's favorite Democrats.
Was recently asked how someone as frugal as I could be a Democrat. Am working on that one.
I don't really think buying my underwear at the second hand store makes me all that frugal. Some are new.
Response by Sandy Davis (pipergrey) at 2010-02-03 22:14:04
ROFL - Waller I saw your KFC post about this site and came to check it out and am happy I did AND so glad that some of your panties are new! And yes - please do explain how someone who buys their panties at the second hand store can be a democrat!
You know that doesn't make any sense! Sandy

FDR's policies and crimes helped take my grandmothers family from upper middle class to near poverty level, and that was after he seized their gold. Anyone who admire LBJ has some serious problems separating evil from goodness.
Response by Don McAvoy at 2010-02-05 09:31:38
jwaller, you know I wouldn't waste my arm on a Minnesotan. Just kidding, do you know how to duck?
Only time I argue politics is with a historian that tries to bend history in their favor.
Revisionest history is not good! Teddy Roosevelt is now linked to the progressives. At the time he wanted healthcare for the people, it meant a doctor.
I have never heard that about the show horses. I am friends with a former puller and he always said that when Geray or Wolf won they never checked their horses but if somebody came out of nowhere and placed they got tested for drugs.
Response by jwaller at 2010-02-06 02:24:37
Saw an area vet there last time I was able to go. Asked later if this vet was a fan of hitch shows (not the pullers, mind you).
"No. I was there to sedate some of the hitch show horses". Last summer there was a parade for something or another in an area town and one of the show teams ran away through the crowd.
High stepping and hyper.
What's the date of the Winter Show this year? Couldn't go last year, but the economy and my prospects are (for some reason) improved this year. I'm even burning better quality firewood.
Response by Don McAvoy at 2010-02-07 01:38:04
Maybe it's the percherons??
Response by Bret4207 at 2010-02-07 07:57:28
The economy improved this year? Must be Waller has a personal line to one of the stimulus plans. Good for you. The rest of us are losing ground rapidly. Before long you'll be that rich guy we all love to hate.
