oxen price.

how much would beef price be for a pound? im tryin to sell my uncles 5 year old short/holstein steers. he wants 2000 dollors for the pair. i dont kno wicth hell make more money doin. sellin as beef, or as a pair.

Depends on their weights. They'll sell by the pound, probably for what a cull bull would sell for. Also depending on where in the US you are will determine the prices for your area. They could go for anywhere from .45 to .65 cents a pound. Do the math, that will tell you which way would bring more $$$.

at our local sale barn dairy type steers are cheap 30 to 40 cents per pound but angus or hereford are going 80 cents to a dollar.i raise 4 or 5 holstein cross steers every year and sell to freinds and neighbors for 1.80$per pound hanging weight and they pay all the processing costs

at our local auction every monday their where dairy steer that weighed 1300-1500 they brought 60-75 cents a pound. if that helps at all. personally i think 2000 is steep

You didn't say how well trained they are as oxen.
That will make a difference.

hey thanks for responces. there around a ton apiece. there a trained good. they can pull ALOT of weight. There not mached color wise 100% but size why there mached good. they still need the finishing touches. but great team.

Did you list them on the Oxen for Sale page? They might be just what someone is looking for, and 1,500 to 2,000 may not be unreasonable for well trained mature conditioned oxen.
