Are the oxen folks having their annual "get together"? Will they be raffeling a pair of calves this year also? Thanks for any info.

The Association of New England Ox Teamsters, Annual Pull will be July 17,18,19, 2009 at Cummington Fairgrounds, Commington, Ma. (about 20 miles east of Pittsfield, or 20 miles west of north Hampton Ma. on RT.9)

Single Ox Twitching, Showing, 6ft and distance pulls in 5 weight classes, as well as the drawing for raffle calves will take place. More than 23 ox events are planned to fill the 3 day weekend.

Ixy: sounds like a nervous condition, eh? "Single ox twitching" is actually twitching--loading logs usually 4' long I think, onto a sled, using a single ox. The New England guys will tell ya more perfectly, but I think the logs are pulled up perpendicularly to the sled on poles set ont he side of the sled, the ox pulls a chain rolling the logs up. I've done this with some big logs using my friend's head yoked Devons.
