  • Source of power: Solar, wind, human, horse, and tractor.
  • Horses are used for: logging.
  • Acreage: 250; 15 in crops and pasture, remainder in mature Acadian forest (pine, hemlock, spruce, oak, ash, maple, birch).
  • Other livestock: chickens, bees.
  • Skills offered in: forest meditation, gardening, permaculture, wetland restoration, forest ecology, forestry, logging, sawmilling, woodworking, seasonal cooking—all within the context of a contemplative and meditative environment.
  • Work hours: 20-40 hrs/wk, depending on the program.
  • Terms: several different residential programs, detailed descriptions available on request.
  • Stipend: varies, depending on program.
  • Accommodations: forest cabins with kitchen facilities.
  • Apprentice must: have a genuine interest in meditation practice, make a long-term commitment to natural landscape restoration and sustainable society; have curiosity, love of the forest, and a passion for learning through doing.
